The official Census title, "The 2010 Dalton/Hundley Real Estate Social Media
Census(sm)," is named after its co-creators, Allan Dalton, Chief Marketing
Officer of RISMedia, Co-Founder and President of the Top 5 in Real Estate
Network® and former CEO of Realtor.com; and Steve Hundley, CEO of 1parkplace, a
real estate technology solutions company. The Census is intended to collect
critical industry data that will reveal the best practices, systems and
solutions for maximizing the opportunities presented by social media and social
networking.

Given the intense response level and its significance to the national real
estate industry, Dalton has extended the Real Estate Social Media Census
deadline beyond March 15th.
The motivation for conducting the Real Estate Social Media Census was derived
from filtering the thousands of mixed messages regarding social media and
social networking circulating in the real estate industry by the vast number of
self-proclaimed experts who may or may not have experience selling real estate.
"The social media phenomenon will only continue to grow, both in terms of usage
and in the manner in which individual businesses will strategically refine
social media potential for their own purpose," says Dalton. "The question is,
how can real estate professionals best utilize social media and social
networking to become and remain relevant, and thereby, increase revenue? The
goal of the 2010 Dalton/Hundley Real Estate Social Media Census(sm) is to
analyze how real estate companies, agents, teams, and IT and marketing
divisions are effectively leveraging social media in order to build profitable
relationships with new and past clients and better serve the informational
needs of niche markets and newly formed online communities."
Interest in the survey has been growing exponentially, with nearly 2,000
industry practitioners volunteering their time to take the opportunity to be
heard in the first 24 hours of its launch last Tuesday.
According to Dalton, "The intense and immediate response to the Real Estate
Social Media Census shows how social networking/media offers real estate
companies and professionals an unmatched opportunity to become relevant with
today's savvy, technology-oriented real estate consumers, and how they want to
be the leaders in their respective markets on delivering just that."
Initial reaction has participants describing the Real Estate Social Media
Census with the phrases, "monumentally important, topical and timely," "well
thought out," "eye-opening," and "truly compelling."
The data collected from the Census will provide a basis of fact for the
upcoming book, soon to be published by RISMedia titled, "Leveraging Your Social
Media Links - Converting Friends, Fans, Followers and Users into Buyers and
Sellers," which is being authored by Dalton with support from Hundley, as well
as provide solid educational reference for RISMedia's upcoming "Social Media
Summit" in New York June 9th and 10th. Visit http://rismedia.com/events/leadership-conference/
for more information on the conference.
All participants in the Census will receive a complimentary copy of the
complete report and statistics, valued at $495. Once completed, census

Census on Twitter for updates and ongoing information about the Census.
